| But it's the comments which are most interesting, ie.:
As the person said, ''We need unique and authentic experiences if we are going to reach these new targets,'' The unique and authentic experience of Australia is not some overpriced eco-resort, or luxury lodge, or barrier reef monopoly island. It is the freedom to travel, explore and camp within the great natural wonder which is this country. The scrabbling rip-off tourist industry with its allies in local governments which have outlawed camping, turned caravan parks into expensive resorts and basically made this country an overpriced no- fun, over controlled place to visit must back off and not be so paranoid that some traveller might pass by without emptying their wallet into the local tourist industry. People will spend money here if they feel they are having a unique, hassle free, cost effective experience. Australia is considered a carefree and wild place, and that is why people come here. They do not want to be herded into expensive accommodations by police, rangers and council officers doing the job of some local business private army. If people want to camp, then let them camp.
