| Three large commercial printing machines and more than 800 counterfeit $50 notes have been found in police raids in Sydney's eastern and south-western suburbs.
At the same time, on Wednesday (AEDT), the US Secret Service arrested a 36-year-old Australian in San Francisco and seized more than 900 counterfeit Australian $50 notes.
Another 6000 counterfeit notes were found during a seven-month investigation, taking the total number of notes seized in both countries to more than 7700, the Australian Federal Police said.
Police say drugs were also seized in the raids.
A 34-year-old Bondi man has been charged with attempted possession of three kilograms of cocaine and is due to appear at Central Local Court today.
Two men, aged 39 and 40, from Sylvania, in Sydney, have been charged with various offences under the Crimes (Currency) Act and are due to appear in court today.
