| A former Illinois state trooper guilty of causing a double-fatal crash in 2007 is applying for worker's compensation for the injuries he sustained in the wreck. Prosecutors say trooper Matt Mitchell was driving 126 mph down the highway while texting on his phone when he crashed into a car and killed two sisters. Mitchell pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in exchange for a sentence of 30 months' probation.
Now he wants worker's comp for his leg injuries. "This man has no shame," says the lawyer representing the two girls who died in the crash. "He has no shame when he files for worker’s compensation benefits."
