NSW Maritime's most senior lawyer remains on the payroll despite an ICAC finding a fortnight ago that she was corrupt, had lied and had forged a document, a parliamentary committee has been told.

The chief executive of NSW Maritime, Steve Dunn, said Tonette Kelly, who is Maritime's acting general counsel, remains on recreation leave and when that runs out would be on leave without pay until an internal inquiry into the ICAC findings concluded.

Ms Kelly took sick leave last year after the Herald published allegations she was running a private conveyancing business from her government office, a claim Mr Dunn strenuously denied at the time. Two weeks ago ICAC found Ms Kelly's business was turning over more than $100,000 a year.
