A 74-year-old man has been charged with cultivating 162 cannabis plants in his home in Minto in Sydney's south-west.
Police allege they located the hydroponic set-up early yesterday.
A police spokesman said the crop could have a street value of at least $250,000.
The man was arrested and later charged with indoor cannabis cultivation for commercial purposes.
He was refused bail and will appear in Campbelltown Local Court today.
Yesterday's alleged find follows a successful police operation in which millions of dollars worth of cannabis cultivated in suburban operations around south-west Sydney were discovered last year.
Police found more than 1500 cannabis plants in eight Sydney homes as part of Operation Moonlight, which netted drugs with a street value of at least $10 million.
Another raid on three St Marys houses late last year netted a cannabis haul with a street value of at least $2 million.
