| Subject: UK: Research, commissioned by oppressive statists, calls for crackdown on lads mags, sexist billboards Sat Feb 27, 2010 5:29 am | |
| Britain must crack down on nudity and sex on television, in men's' mags, and on billboards to prevent the 'pornification' of society, a new study warns. The research, commissioned by the government, also rips digitally altered photographs, saying children are being pressured to conform to unrealistic images and gender stereotypes at a young age. Girls are taught they must look 'hot,' boys that they must be 'macho'—ideas that "contribute to the sexualization of children," the Independent reports.
The recommendations include: banning the sale of so-called 'lad's magazines' to those under 15, labeling digitally altered photographs, keeping sexy music videos off during kid-friendly hours and having local authorities vet outdoor advertisements for sexist content.
