2/20/2008 4:08:18 AM Wednesday, the Danish embassy in Indonesia witnessed a protest by around 200 Muslims against the reprinting of a cartoon depicting Prophet Muhammad in Danish newspapers.

The group also rallied outside the Dutch embassy to protest the planned release of a right-wing Dutch lawmaker's controversial film on the Quran, Islam's holy book.

"We heard they have reprinted the cartoons to defend the freedom of speech while in fact they have thereby clearly and seriously insulted the Prophet Muhammad and Islam, and this has happened several times," a spokesman of Muslim organization Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia or HTI, Muhammmad Ismail Yanto, said.

Wednesday's protest came after at least 11 print media and televisions in Denmark republished or rescreened cartoon drawings of Prophet Mohammed, which originally appeared in Danish newspaper Jylland-Posten on September 30, 2005.

Apart from the Danish media, at least three newspapers in Sweden, the Netherlands and Spain also reprinted the cartoons.
