| Subject: Sex robots really are a commercial inevitability - YaY! Wed Oct 28, 2015 4:41 am | |
| I'm sitting in the glorious gardens of Sydney's Strickland House, talking to a young man about having sex with robots.
This is not your usual Sunday lunch: It's called Cubby House, a festival billed as a meeting of minds.
Mine is racing with images of fembots from Austin Powers, robot sex workers in Westworld and Bianca from Lars and the Real Girl.
"The sex robot industry is a commercial inevitability," says Hugo Gray, senior writer for Future of Sex magazine.
There are already dozens on the market, from the Moaning Lisa to AutoBlow2 and the onomatopoeic Robo Fuk Sex Machine.
But the biggest players are True Companion, which created Roxxxy and, later, Rockey, and Realbotix.
Matt McMullen, creator of RealDoll, is working with Realbotix to animate his silicon creations, so they have the illusion of sentience.
Yes, you read that right: a sex toy with feelings.
