It promises a place where "kids can be kids", a concept encouraged by the prime minister's chief science adviser through recent research.
Professor Sir Peter Gluckman has explored the issue of resilience in young people and found not allowing children to learn about risks sets them up for a tough transition to adulthood.
Resilience needed to be instilled in the first five years of life so children could cope with our ever-changing and increasingly complex world, he said.
Mt Biggs principal Raewyn Marshall said pupils' physical boundaries were pushed at school and in turn they learnt life lessons.
