| Subject: Rights violation: BASE jumping previously banned from French peak Mon Aug 18, 2014 11:30 pm | |
| BASE jumping had previously been banned from a French mountain peak where an Australian man plunged to his death while participating in the adventure sport at the weekend.
French authorities say the 33-year-old Australian fell to his death after jumping from the summit of the 2525-metre Brevent peak, near Chamonix in south-eastern France, which is known as a notoriously difficult and technical BASE-jumping location.
The Australian man, who was wearing a wingsuit which allows the wearer to glide through the air, launched off the cliff but soon struck trouble.
