A Queensland Supreme Court judge has taken Premier Campbell Newman to task over his recent remarks about granting bail to bikies.

The judge has been backed by the state's opposition which says the "courts are in crisis".

The Director of Public Prosecutions asked the Supreme Court on Wednesday to review the decision to grant bail to 25-year-old alleged Bandidos member Jarrod Kevin Anthony Brown.

Police alleged Mr Brown was one of the Bandidos involved in a public bikie brawl on the Gold Coast last month that prompted the passing of contentious new anti-association laws.

But Justice George Fryberg questioned whether he should hear the DPP's application in light of remarks made recently by the premier.
