| Subject: Funny: Billboard spelling mistake for Porsche Wed Aug 15, 2012 12:46 am | |
| Boxster. It’s the name of Porsche’s well-known sports convertible. It may be a made-up word, but that doesn’t make it OK to misspell it. Unfortunately for one Porsche dealership, however, that’s exactly what has happened.
Porsche of London – that’s London, Ontario, Canada, rather than London, UK – has put up a billboard that incorrectly spells the car’s name “Boxter” instead of “Boxster”.
According to US website Jalopnik, there isn’t just one billboard that carries the blunder. A number of advertising signs across the city - and possibly across the whole country - may have the typo.
The name Boxster is derived from a combination of the words “Boxer” - a colloquial name given to the car’s horizontally opposed engine - and “Roadster”, due to the car’s two-seat body and open-top design.
