| Subject: OZschwitz: Statist Maritime lawyer forged document, court told Wed Apr 21, 2010 3:10 am | |
| NSW Maritime's most senior lawyer allegedly forged a retrospective approval from her chief executive, granting permission to use the authority's online account for personal property searches, an inquiry has heard.
The organisation's legal counsel, Tonette Kelly, also allegedly failed for seven years to declare earnings of $120,000 a year to the tax office or to meet her obligations to pay GST, the inquiry heard.
Under vigorous questioning from Jeremy Gormly, SC, counsel assisting ICAC's inquiry into Ms Kelly and other officers, Ms Kelly repeatedly denied she had faked a memo last year that was dated March 20, 2003, and faxed it to the organisation to justify spending more than $10,000 of its money on private property searches she carried out using the authority's online account with a company called Legalco.
