Two Liverpool police officers have lost their jobs and have been charged with corruption and other offences over allegations investigated by the Police Integrity Commission in February, a PIC report has revealed.

The PIC had heard evidence that the officers raided tobacconists and pretended to seize illegal loose tobacco, which they then allegedly sold through associates.

One officer, codenamed LP1, rolled over at the commission and also admitted to his involvement in several fake drug raids.

The commission also heard evidence relating to allegations of theft, extortion, soliciting corrupt payments, conspiracy and unauthorised possession of firearms.
