| Subject: If we're banning anything that causes offence, let's consider Anzac Day Sun Apr 14, 2019 12:12 am | |
| Anzac Day was always going to be a challenge after the terrorist attack in Christchurch. Perhaps this is a positive. It can help put several things into perspective, with those upset at the idea of a Muslim prayer at a dawn service being as muddle-headed as those wanting to rid Canterbury of the Crusaders. Those clamouring to force the Christchurch team to change their name are demonstrating a profound ignorance of history as well as a fatal inability to appreciate the potential of the Crusaders' livery as an alt-right rallying cry. Once the team is brow-beaten into adopting a name as bland and uninspiring as that which burdens the Auckland franchise, and their on-field performance declines to match, the Crusaders' sword and knight will be as potent as any banned manifesto. Evidence, if you wanted it, to the West's surrender to the sensitivities of Islam.
