Police in London have the worst response rate in the country to 999 and 101 calls, new figures have revealed.

The London Met can take up to 35 minutes to answer 999 calls and five hours and 15 minutes for 101 inquiries, according to figures obtained under a Freedom of Information Act.

It is estimated that each day in London 500 999 callers and 12,000 calling 101, ring off out of frustration - after failing to get through to an operator.
