| Subject: End of days! Telescope images reveal what happens when galaxies collide Thu Nov 08, 2018 5:53 pm | |
| Scientists have managed to capture, for the first time, a series of images showing what happens when galaxies collide and merge together, causing a massive explosion and supermassive black holes uniting to form one giant black hole. Put another way, this is likely how it will look when our own Milky Way galaxy eventually collides with the nearby Andromeda galaxy. The scientists, led by Eureka Scientific researcher Michael Koss, were able to capture the images by looking through the thick walls of gas and dust that surround the galaxies' cores, leading to the incredible images.
