| Shortly after the release of a memo detailing alleged surveillance abuses by the FBI, the FBI Agents Association released a statement defending agents' integrity. "FBI agents have not, and will not, allow partisan politics to distract us from our solemn commitment to our mission," FBIAA President Tom O'Connor wrote. The statement came in response to a controversial memo that claims the FBI used unverified intelligence to obtain a surveillance warrant for a former Trump campaign adviser. The Justice Department and FBI had urged lawmakers not to release the memo, saying it relied on incomplete information, but the White House called for its publication Friday. "The American people should know that they continue to be well-served by the world's preeminent law enforcement agency," O'Connor said.
