Actress and former Playboy model Pamela Anderson sparked outrage on Thursday when she told host Megyn Kelly that women who went to hotel rooms alone with predator producer Harvey Weinstein knew what they were getting into.

"Were you surprised when you heard all the women coming out about him?" asked Kelly.

"No," replied Anderson, giving off a laugh. "I think it was common knowledge that certain producers and certain people in Hollywood are people to avoid. Privately. You know what you’re getting into if you go to a hotel room alone."

"Well a lot of the women talk about how they felt — their agent set it up, their agent wouldn’t put them in a dangerous position — this is a famous guy," Kelly responded.

"Send somebody with them, that's what they should have done," said Anderson. "I just think there’s easy ways to remedy that, that’s not a good excuse."

The PETA activist explained that she's had ample opportunity to accept sexual advances from Hollywood higher-ups in exchange for boosts to her career but turned them down flat.

"When I came to Hollywood, of course I had a lot of offers to do private auditions and things that made absolutely no sense, just common sense: don't go into a hotel room alone; if someone answers the door in a bathrobe, leave," she said. "You know, common sense."

"Hollywood is very seductive, and people want to be famous," Anderson added.

Although feminists were quick to pounce on Anderson for her comments, the model has since doubled-down on her stance, telling TMZ in a letter that she "will not be coerced into an apology" and slamming the notion that she was "victim blaming."

"I think this narrative of 'victim blaming' and 'lack of solidarity' is trying to coerce me (and others) into consensus
on something that should be debated and discussed broadly," said Anderson.

"There are also a lot of self-protection courses. There is even a well known story of suffragettes learning martial arts and protection when doing activism for right to vote," she wrote.

"So this is not victim blaming but looking at the issue from the angle of women being aware of certain problems and how to spot them and fight them. It is totally hypocritical to ignore this. And it is not helping anyone to ignore the realities in the society we live in. The causes of the problem and solutions are complex and women who do not live in the utopian bubble must be aware of what is going on. And that is what I have highlighted," added the actress.
