| “I was gasping for air… I lost consciousness,” Trudeau-Tremblay, an 18-year-old Quebec City post-secondary CEGEP student, said. She explains that she never thought officers would violate her right to protest by using unprovoked violence. She adds that she has the officer’s badge number and that her mother, Catherine Tremblay, has already obtained an attorney to hold the police accountable in court. All of this happened at a protest on Thursday evening, outside of Quebec’s National Assembly. The demonstration was in response to the release of the latest provincial budget.

Posted by Counter Current News on Friday, March 27, 2015 In the video, student protesters can be seen outside the National Assembly, when police begin pushing against them, and finally firing tear gas into the crowd. “There is no right reason to shoot someone directly in the face,” Camille Godbout said. Camille is one of the student protest group ASSÉ, which was in attendance. “They’re shooting directly at people instead of shooting, for example, in the air,” she added. A Quebec City police spokesman defended the police violence in an interview with CBC News.
