| Queensland's education minister says he was honouring a 30-year-old policy when he banned his federal counterpart from visiting two state schools.
Federal Schools Minister Peter Garrett says he's stunned by the decision to deny him access to the Brisbane schools, where he'd wanted to explain the federal government's funding reforms.
But Queensland Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek says he banned Mr Garrett because the federal government was using school visits as a platform for its political campaign.
He says he was honouring a long-standing policy that bans political campaigns from schools. Advertisement
"We're not going to allow political campaigning, using our kids as props for the prime minister and the education minister," he told reporters on Wednesday
