Hello, my chosen internet moniker is Entropy Ann, and I'm a new addition to the forum. I would like to begin by attempting to homestead this particular piece of internet real estate. I know it's modest now, but I'm pretty sure given some repairs, a new coat of paint, and a couple of jumping Belgian mimes, this thread could a be really happening place....

Just kidding, and much thanks to whoever pulled this particular forum out of the wretched abyss of porn, Beyonce videos and hook up sites that largely comprises the internet. I'm one of the teeming hordes of rational egoists looking for the intelligent conversation that is sadly lacking in most other places. An ardent fan of Mises, Rothbard, and Nietzsche, I'm one of several natural anarchists that was very stupid in their youth and joined the military; for better or for worse, the issue of my anarchistic conscience intersected with transsexual ideations, and I went to college with my blood money, rather than choosing to re-up (I'd have probably shot myself with a privately owned firearm if I had; see humorously morbid facts).

In any case, I was following the trail of the mentally disintegrating Stefan Molyneux before I found my way here, and I figured I'd make a stop and give a howdy-do. A good day to all, and perhaps we'll share an interesting conversation or two in the future.

Welcome 1

Glad to have you here Entropy!

Did you have any personal interaction with Molyneux? Have you seen his thread?

As a rational egoist, are you also an Ayn Rand fan?

And what's with the moniker?

That's the thread I was referring to, yes. And no I've not interacted with him, thankfully. I was considering joining up with the FDR forum about a year ago, since I like many of his presentations, such as The Story of Your Enslavement. I was fortunate to have been clued into the underlying story of unethical practices by this individual and his wife, the former of whom seems to be a charismatic sociopath in retrospect.

As a rational egoist, I'm more of a Nietzschean than anything else. As I abandoned childhood Catholicism, he was in many ways my philosophical gateway drug. Rand does draw on him repeatedly, though I never recall her giving any credit to him at all. I actually read bits of Thus Spoke Zarathustra before ever touching Atlas Shrugged, which colored my impression of it strongly; she approaches what she appears to be seeking, but either never quite makes the connection or shies away from it. A pity, really.

As far as my moniker goes, the time came several years ago to change it, so I decided a vague and only personally meaningful one was suitable. I like the concept of Entropy (especially since it epitomizes the consequences of irrational thought and action), so I took to calling myself "Entropy", then as I grew more comfortable with mixing and matching gender identifiers, added "Ann" to it. "Entropy Ann" kind of stuck.

And nope, never head of this "Babushka". She is cute, though.

Who is Zeon, another Nietzschean?

Nah, it's a reference to an old anime. In the original Gundam Series, Zeon are the bad guys. They tend to be pretty bad ass at being bad guys a lot of the time, though, and their kit looks kind of neat, hence they get a cult following. The joke with the picture is that it's the head of Asuka from Evangelion shooped onto the body of a character from the series, giving a speech.

What other forums have you participated in, since you said you've been active for "several years?"

To be honest, by being active I simply mean investigating the anarchist environment. I started posting on CounterOrder in 2008, although the conversation there seemed to be limited. I've been an LRC/Mises Institute reader since late 2007. I mostly wander around a few different (mostly unrelated) collaborative writing sites and have also posted on a small number of philosophy related boards. My primary staples these days tend to be less self-indulgence than self-improvement, though...academic and educational material, etc. How about you?

I was a member of FDR, and one or two others briefly.

Self improvement, eh? Only a few weeks ago you were a self-proclaimed sociopath...

Nice digging. I was going through a rough patch of not really being able to feel anything at all for about half a year, and thought that I was. Sociopath World made for a nice pit-stop and outlet. I'm pretty sure I'm not, though, given some recent experiences; I'll admit, it was relatively presumptuous of me to make the leap to self-psychoanlysis.

On the note of FDR, I hope you didn't end up donating any money. Molyneux has put out some good material in the past, but the inner-cult/recent suicide situation has the danger of seriously marring the reputation of anyone along the lines of a "peaceful anarchist".

And by self-improvement staples I mean websites like JSTOR and FEE. I am in college, after all.
